  • Author: Imili Johnson

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1.5 oz Irish cream (such as Baileys or Carolans)
  • 1 oz vanilla vodka
  • 1/2 oz coffee liqueur (such as Kahlúa or Tia Maria)
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup or vanilla syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 oz heavy cream or half-and-half
  • Ice cubes (if serving cold)
  • Whipped cream (for garnish, optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Chilled Irish Cream Espresso Dream

Step 1: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes to chill the ingredients.
Step 2: Brew a fresh shot of espresso and allow it to cool slightly.
Step 3: Add the espresso, Irish cream, vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup to the shaker.
Step 4: Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to mix and chill the drink.
Step 5: Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with fresh ice.
Step 6: Slowly pour the heavy cream over the top to create a swirling effect.
Step 7: Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for an extra indulgent touch.
Step 8: Serve immediately and enjoy!

Hot Irish Cream Espresso Dream

Step 1: Brew a fresh shot of espresso and pour it into a heatproof mug.
Step 2: Stir in the Irish cream, vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup until well combined.
Step 3: In a small saucepan or using a milk frother, heat the heavy cream until warm (but not boiling).
Step 4: Gently pour the warm cream over the espresso mixture, allowing it to swirl naturally.
Step 5: If desired, top with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder or chocolate shavings.
Step 6: Sip and enjoy the warm, creamy goodness!

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor.
  • If making a hot version, do not overheat the cream, as it can curdle.
  • When pouring the heavy cream, tilt the glass slightly to create the best swirl effect.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding or omitting simple syrup based on your preference.
  • To enhance the flavor, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the whipped cream for a salted caramel effect.
