Ingredients
-
1 ½ oz vodka
-
½ oz Midori (for a vibrant green color)
-
½ oz blue curaçao
-
½ oz grenadine (for a deep red swirl)
-
½ oz lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
-
½ oz simple syrup (optional, for balance)
-
2 oz lemon-lime soda (for fizz)
-
Ice cubes
Garnish:
-
Maraschino cherry
-
Lime wheel
-
Edible glitter (optional, for a theatrical touch)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Glass
Fill a tall glass (such as a highball or hurricane glass) with ice cubes. This helps maintain the layering effect and keeps the drink cold.
Step 2: Mix the Base Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, Midori, blue curaçao, lemon juice, and simple syrup with a handful of ice. Shake well for about 10–15 seconds until well chilled.
Step 3: Pour and Layer
Strain the mixture into your prepared glass over the ice. The result should be a beautiful bright green color from the Midori and blue curaçao blend.
Step 4: Add Fizz and the Signature Swirl
Slowly top off the drink with lemon-lime soda, pouring gently to maintain the layers. Then, carefully drizzle the grenadine down the side of the glass—it will sink to the bottom and create a dramatic red swirl effect, resembling a mischievous grin.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
Finish by garnishing with a maraschino cherry and a lime wheel on the rim of the glass. For an extra theatrical touch, sprinkle a little edible glitter over the top to give it a dazzling finish. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
-
To achieve the perfect layering effect, always pour the grenadine last and let it sink naturally.
-
If you want a more intense red swirl, lightly stir the drink with a straw just before serving.
-
Use chilled ingredients to keep the drink cold without diluting it too quickly.
