Spiked Hot Cocoa Martini

  • Author: Imili Johnson

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk (or your preferred milk alternative)
  • 2 tbsp high-quality hot cocoa mix or 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 oz chocolate liqueur (such as Godiva)
  • 1 oz vodka or vanilla vodka
  • 1 oz Irish cream liqueur (optional, for added creaminess)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes (for chilling)
  • Whipped cream, mini marshmallows, and chocolate shavings (for garnish)
  • Chocolate syrup (optional, for rimming the glass)

Instructions

Preparation

Step 1: Start by preparing the hot cocoa. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming but not boiling. Whisk in the hot cocoa mix (or cocoa powder and sugar) until fully dissolved and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.

Step 2: While the cocoa is cooling, prepare the martini glass. Rim the edge of the glass with chocolate syrup, then dip it into a plate of crushed chocolate or cocoa powder for a decorative touch.

Step 3: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the cooled hot cocoa, chocolate liqueur, vodka, Irish cream (if using), and vanilla extract. Shake vigorously for 20–30 seconds to thoroughly combine the ingredients and chill the mixture.

Step 4: Strain the mixture into the prepared martini glass. The drink should be silky smooth, with a rich, velvety texture.

Step 5: Top the martini with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings for garnish. For an extra festive touch, drizzle chocolate syrup or dust with cocoa powder. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

When making the Spiked Hot Cocoa Martini, ensure the hot cocoa cools to room temperature before mixing it with the spirits. Adding hot liquids to a cocktail shaker can create pressure and lead to spills. For a smoother texture, use a high-quality hot cocoa mix or blend your own with premium cocoa powder and sugar. For an extra indulgent experience, consider making whipped cream from scratch using heavy cream and a touch of sugar.
