Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Base

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until it forms a crumbly texture. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and let cool.

Step 3: Prepare the Apple Filling

In a medium saucepan, add the diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until the apples soften.
