Baked Pears with Feta Honey and Cranberries

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 35–40 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe but firm pears (Bartlett or Bosc work best)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries (or fresh for a tart kick)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for crunch)
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet or dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter.
Step 2: Prepare the Pears
  • Wash the pears thoroughly and slice them in half lengthwise.
  • Using a melon baller or a small spoon, scoop out the core and seeds, creating a small cavity in the center of each pear half.
Step 3: Flavor the Pears
  • Brush the cut sides of the pears with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon and sea salt over each pear half for added flavor.
Step 4: Add the Filling
  • Fill each pear cavity with a mixture of crumbled feta cheese and dried cranberries.
  • Drizzle about half a teaspoon of honey over each filled pear.
Step 5: Bake the Pears
  • Place the prepared pears onto the baking sheet, cut side up.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the pears are tender and golden brown. The cheese should be slightly melted, and the cranberries plump.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
  • Once baked, remove the pears from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  • Drizzle additional honey over the pears, sprinkle with chopped nuts for added texture, and garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color.

Notes

  • Select pears that are ripe but firm. Overripe pears may become too soft and lose their shape during baking.
  • Keep an eye on the baking time, as it may vary based on the size and ripeness of the pears.
  • If the pears start browning too quickly, cover them with foil for the remaining bake time.
