Christmas Cranberry Walnut Cheese Balls

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cheese Balls

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, finely shredded
  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • ⅓ cup dried cranberries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • A pinch of salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper

For Coating and Garnish

  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley sprigs for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cheese Base
In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth and well combined. Ensure no lumps remain for a creamy base.

Step 2: Add Mix-Ins
Fold in the chopped cranberries, walnuts, and parsley. Add a pinch of salt and a few cracks of black pepper. Stir gently to evenly distribute the mix-ins throughout the cheese mixture.

Step 3: Shape into Balls
Use a small scoop or spoon to portion the mixture into 1-inch balls. Roll each portion between your palms to form smooth, even spheres. If the mixture is too soft, chill it in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes to firm up before shaping.

Step 4: Coat with Walnuts
Place the additional chopped walnuts on a plate. Roll each cheese ball in the walnuts, pressing lightly to ensure the coating sticks evenly. This adds a festive and crunchy exterior.

Step 5: Serve and Garnish
Arrange the cheese balls on a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley sprigs for a vibrant, holiday-inspired touch. Pair with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or fresh vegetable sticks for a complete appetizer presentation.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature cream cheese for easy mixing. Cold cream cheese may result in lumps.
  • Chill the cheese balls before serving if making them ahead of time to keep them firm.
  • Ensure all mix-ins are finely chopped for uniformity and easier shaping.
