  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes (including setting time

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Kool-Aid (any flavor of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 3 packets (3 tablespoons) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or corn syrup (for a smoother texture)
  • Cooking spray or oil (for greasing the molds)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Gelatin Mixture

  1. In a small saucepan, pour 1/2 cup of cold water.
  2. Sprinkle the 3 packets of unflavored gelatin over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to bloom. This will help create a smooth, uniform texture in the gummies.

Step 2: Add the Flavoring

  1. Once the gelatin has bloomed, place the saucepan over low heat and gently stir the mixture until the gelatin completely dissolves.
  2. Add 1 packet of Kool-Aid powder and mix well to ensure even color and flavor distribution.
  3. If you want your gummies to be sweeter, stir in 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of honey or corn syrup. Continue stirring until everything is fully dissolved.

Step 3: Pour the Mixture into Molds

  1. Lightly grease your silicone molds or gummy bear trays with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Carefully pour the warm mixture into the molds using a dropper or small spoon to avoid spills.
  3. Lightly tap the molds on the counter to remove any air bubbles.

Step 4: Let the Gummies Set

  1. Place the filled molds in the refrigerator and allow the gummies to set for at least 1 hour or until firm.

Step 5: Remove and Store

  1. Once set, gently pop the gummies out of the molds.
  2. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Stir continuously while heating the mixture to avoid lumps and ensure an even texture.
  • Avoid boiling the gelatin mixture, as high heat can weaken its thickening properties.
