Ingredients
To make a single serving of Peach Grapefruit Tequila Sour, you’ll need:
- 2 oz (60 ml) tequila – A high-quality blanco or reposado tequila works best.
- 1 oz (30 ml) fresh grapefruit juice – Preferably from pink or ruby grapefruit for a sweeter taste.
- ¾ oz (22 ml) fresh peach puree – Made from ripe peaches for natural sweetness.
- ¾ oz (22 ml) fresh lemon juice – Adds the classic sour balance.
- ½ oz (15 ml) simple syrup – Adjust based on your sweetness preference.
- 1 egg white – Optional, but adds a smooth, foamy texture.
- Ice cubes – For shaking and chilling.
- Garnishes: Grapefruit slice, peach slice, or a sprig of mint.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cocktail Shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker with tequila, grapefruit juice, peach puree, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white (if using).
Step 2: Dry Shake for Frothiness
If using egg white, first shake without ice (dry shake) for 15 seconds to create a foamy texture. This helps aerate the egg white for a smoother, silkier mouthfeel.
Step 3: Add Ice and Shake Again
Add a handful of ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for another 15 seconds to chill the drink.
Step 4: Strain Into a Glass
Double strain the mixture into a chilled coupe or rocks glass to remove any pulp or ice shards.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
Garnish with a grapefruit slice, peach slice, or mint sprig. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Use fresh peaches when in season for the best flavor. If peaches aren’t available, you can use frozen peaches (thawed) or a high-quality peach nectar.
- Blanco tequila works best for a crisp, fresh taste, while reposado tequila adds deeper, aged notes.
- Adjust the simple syrup based on how sweet your peaches and grapefruit are. If using very sweet fruit, you may need less syrup.
