Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 bell peppers (red and yellow), sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 oz penne or spaghetti, cooked
Instructions
Preparation
Step 1: Cook the Steak
- First, heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Then, add the steak strips to the skillet. Season them generously with salt and pepper to enhance the natural flavors.
- Sear the steak for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pieces are browned and cooked to your liking.
- After that, remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables
- Using the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil.
- Next, toss in the sliced bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic.
- Sauté for about 5-6 minutes, stirring frequently. As the vegetables cook, you’ll notice their colors brighten, and they become tender yet slightly crisp.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together 1 cup beef broth, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, and 1 tbsp water until smooth.
- Once the vegetables are ready, pour the mixture into the skillet, stirring it thoroughly to combine.
Step 4: Combine Everything
- After the sauce begins to simmer, return the cooked steak strips to the skillet.
- Stir well to coat the steak and vegetables evenly with the sauce.
- Then, bring the mixture to a gentle boil, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes. During this time, the sauce will thicken and cling to the ingredients, creating a glossy finish.
Step 5: Serve
- While the steak mixture finishes cooking, plate the cooked pasta (penne or spaghetti).
- Finally, spoon the pepper steak and sauce mixture generously over the pasta.
- For a finishing touch, garnish with freshly chopped parsley for an extra burst of flavor and color.
Notes
Cooking Notes
- For best results, use fresh, high-quality sirloin steak to achieve the perfect balance of flavor and tenderness.
- Additionally, avoid overcooking the steak as it should remain juicy and tender.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, simply thin it out with a tablespoon of water or beef broth.
