Toasted Pecan Maple Old-Fashioned: A Nutty Autumn Delight

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz toasted pecan syrup
  • 1 oz apple cider
  • Candied pecan, for garnish
  • Orange peel, for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Toasted Pecan Syrup

  1. To make your own toasted pecan syrup (if you don’t have it pre-made), follow these steps:
    • Toast ½ cup of pecans in a skillet over medium heat until they’re fragrant, about 4-5 minutes.
    • In a small saucepan, combine ½ cup sugar, ½ cup water, and the toasted pecans. Stir and bring the mixture to a simmer.
    • Let the syrup simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the pecans to infuse their flavor.
    • Remove from heat, strain out the pecans, and let the syrup cool. Store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Step 2: Mix the Cocktail

  1. In a mixing glass or shaker, add the bourbon, toasted pecan syrup, and apple cider.
  2. Stir the ingredients together until they are well combined and slightly chilled.

Step 3: Serve

  1. Fill a rocks glass with a large ice cube or several smaller cubes.
  2. Pour the mixed drink over the ice.
  3. Garnish with a candied pecan and a twist of orange peel for a pop of citrus and a touch of elegance.

Step 4: Enjoy!

  1. Sip and enjoy the warm, nutty flavors with a subtle hint of sweetness and spice from the apple cider and orange peel.
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes (not including time for making toasted pecan syrup)
