Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of green cabbage: chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 6–8 slices of turkey bacon: chopped
- 1 medium onion: diced
- 2–3 garlic cloves: minced
- Salt and pepper: to taste
- Chopped green onions: for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Bacon
- Heat Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook Bacon: Add chopped turkey bacon to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy and golden brown, about 6-8 minutes.
- Remove and Reserve: Transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, leaving the drippings in the skillet for added flavor.
Step 2: Sauté the Onion and Garlic
- Add Onion: In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add the diced onion.
- Sauté: Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes or until the onion becomes translucent.
- Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 3: Add the Cabbage
- Combine Ingredients: Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, mixing well to coat it in the onion, garlic, and drippings.
- Cook: Cook for 10-15 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. The cabbage should become tender and slightly caramelized.
- Season: Season generously with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Combine and Serve
- Add Bacon: Return the crispy turkey bacon to the skillet and toss to combine with the cabbage.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped green onions for a fresh, vibrant touch.
- Serve: Serve hot as a side dish or a light main course.
