Ingredients

Scale

For the Wings:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Dry Rub:

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for slight sweetness)

Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. This setup ensures the wings cook evenly and get that desired crispiness.

Step 2: Season the Wings

  1. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, and pepper to enhance their flavor.
  2. Mix all the dry rub ingredients in a small bowl until well combined. Sprinkle the rub evenly over the wings, massaging it into every nook and cranny.

Step 3: Bake the Wings

  1. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. This prevents overcrowding and ensures even cooking.
  2. Bake the wings for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway through. Keep an eye on them as they turn golden and crispy.

Step 4: Prepare the Glaze

  1. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, hot sauce (if desired), and apple cider vinegar.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 5: Coat the Wings

  1. Once baked, toss the wings in the prepared glaze until they’re evenly coated.
  2. For a stickier finish, return the glazed wings to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Serve the wings hot. Pair them with ranch, blue cheese dressing, or enjoy them as is.

Notes

  • For even crispier wings, pat the chicken dry with paper towels before seasoning.
  • Always preheat your oven or air fryer to ensure consistent cooking.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, omit the brown sugar in the dry rub.
