Ingredients
Scale
For the Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Dry Rub:
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for slight sweetness)
Glaze:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional, for heat)
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. This setup ensures the wings cook evenly and get that desired crispiness.
Step 2: Season the Wings
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, and pepper to enhance their flavor.
- Mix all the dry rub ingredients in a small bowl until well combined. Sprinkle the rub evenly over the wings, massaging it into every nook and cranny.
Step 3: Bake the Wings
- Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. This prevents overcrowding and ensures even cooking.
- Bake the wings for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway through. Keep an eye on them as they turn golden and crispy.
Step 4: Prepare the Glaze
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, hot sauce (if desired), and apple cider vinegar.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 5: Coat the Wings
- Once baked, toss the wings in the prepared glaze until they’re evenly coated.
- For a stickier finish, return the glazed wings to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
Step 6: Serve
- Serve the wings hot. Pair them with ranch, blue cheese dressing, or enjoy them as is.
Notes
- For even crispier wings, pat the chicken dry with paper towels before seasoning.
- Always preheat your oven or air fryer to ensure consistent cooking.
- If you prefer less sweetness, omit the brown sugar in the dry rub.
