  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

For the Main Dish:

  • 1 lb (450 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 sausages (spicy Italian or smoked sausage), sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional, for heat)

For the Roasted Sweet Potatoes:

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Roast the Sweet Potatoes

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the cubed sweet potatoes with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread them out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Roast for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp on the edges.

Step 2: Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, and red chili flakes.
  2. Set the sauce aside for later use.

Step 3: Cook the Sausage

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 3-4 minutes, flipping occasionally, until browned and crispy on the edges.
  3. Remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.

Step 4: Cook the Shrimp and Broccoli

  1. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Add the shrimp and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  4. Add the broccoli florets and a splash of soy sauce, stirring well to combine. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli becomes tender but still has a slight crunch.

Step 5: Combine and Add the Sauce

  1. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet with the shrimp and broccoli.
  2. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the mixture and toss everything together, ensuring the ingredients are evenly coated.
  3. Cook for 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the ingredients beautifully.

Step 6: Assemble and Serve

  1. Serve the shrimp, sausage, and broccoli mixture over a bed of the roasted sweet potatoes.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of sesame seeds if desired.
