Loaded Cheeseburger with Fries and Double Patties

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juicier burgers)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 brioche or sesame seed burger buns

For the Fries:

  • 2 cups frozen French fries (or homemade fries)
  • Oil for frying (if making homemade)

For the Toppings:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • Pickles (optional)

Instructions

Preparation:

Step 1: Cook the French Fries

  1. If using frozen fries, prepare according to the package instructions.
  2. For homemade fries:
    • Peel and slice potatoes into thin strips.
    • Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry the potatoes until golden and crispy, then drain on paper towels.
  3. Season the fries with salt and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper.
  2. Divide the beef into 4 equal portions and shape each into a round patty, slightly larger than the buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.
  3. Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.

Step 3: Toast the Buns

  1. Lightly butter the cut sides of the brioche or sesame seed buns.
  2. Toast the buns on the skillet or grill until golden and slightly crisp.

Step 4: Assemble the Cheeseburger

  1. Spread a layer of mayonnaise and ketchup on the bottom bun.
  2. Place two cheesy burger patties on top of the sauce.
  3. Pile a generous handful of crispy fries over the patties.
  4. Add optional toppings like pickles for extra tang.
  5. Finish with the top bun to complete your towering burger.

Notes

COOKING Note:

  • French Fries: Double-fry homemade fries for extra crispiness. Fry once at 300°F (150°C) for 5 minutes, then again at 350°F (175°C) until golden.
  • Burger Doneness: For medium-rare patties, cook to an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C). For well-done, cook to 160°F (71°C).
  • Custom Sauce: Mix BBQ sauce or a touch of hot sauce into the ketchup for added flavor.
