Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 lb steak (sirloin, ribeye, or preferred cut), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
Preparation
Step 1: Season the Steak and Shrimp
- In a large bowl, add the steak bites. Season them with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- In a separate bowl, add the shrimp. Season them with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Toss gently to combine.
Step 2: Cook the Steak Bites
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steak bites in a single layer, ensuring the pan is not overcrowded to allow a good sear.
- Sear each side for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness.
- Remove the steak bites from the skillet and set them aside.
Step 3: Cook the Shrimp
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, just until they turn pink and opaque.
- Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside with the steak bites.
Step 4: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
- Lower the heat to medium. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the skillet.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until it becomes fragrant.
- Stir in a splash of lemon juice, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan to infuse the sauce with extra flavor.
Step 5: Combine and Serve
- Return the steak bites and shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the garlic butter sauce until they are evenly coated.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for a burst of citrus flavor.
Notes
Cooking Note
To achieve the best sear on the steak bites, ensure the skillet is hot before adding them. This helps lock in the juices and creates a crispy exterior. Similarly, avoid overcooking the shrimp as they can become tough and rubbery—just cook them until they are pink and opaque.
